Stephanie Yamson is a British-Ghanaian Writer.

Stephanie started her writing career as a Story Consultant on the EMMY and BAFTA Award Winning TV SeriesI May Destroy You (BBC & HBO), written by Michaela Coel. She then worked as a Script Consultant on season 1 of Dreaming Whilst Black (BBC / A24), written by Adjani Salmon and Ali Hughes, after leading the writers room.

After being part of the writers room for Wild Cherry (Firebird Pictures/ BBC) she wrote an episode of the highly anticipated original Audible series Good Sex, and is currently under script commission by Channel 4, developing a book adaptation with ITV Studios Company, Five Acts.

She is also developing her original series, Winging It , with Firebird Pictures after it was chosen for a Sky Table Read, produced by #Merky Films.

Stephanie also was the co-writer of Krunch, a play developed and produced by Talawa Theatre Company, which toured South Africa and the UK.

As a Creator and Producer, Stephanie’s projects include Elevate Writers Room, (a scriptwriters course for ethnically diverse women), a Screen Acting Masterclass with BBC Director Nigel Douglas, (for online distribution for the Ascend Actors Group) and a business podcast pilot called From Side Hustle To Main Hustle (for Sylvia Paul).

As an Actress, Stephanie trained at The London School of Musical Theatre and, since graduating, has worked in TV, Film, Theatre and Voice Over with companies including the BBC, Channel 4, the Young Vic, Southwark Playhouse and Talawa Theatre Company. 

As a Director, Stephanie has assisted and directed theatre shows at a range of venues including the Hackney Empire, Young Vic, Sadler’s Wells and Hammersmith Apollo.

Stephanie as also worked as a Workshop Facilitator, leading numerous drama workshops for adults and young people, covering a variety of subjects including poetry, scriptwriting, acting, Black history and, diversity and inclusion; working with companies such as Talawa Theatre Company, Southwark Playhouse and London Bubble.

Stephanie is also a qualified Chartered Accountant (ACCA) and is passionate about business. Pairing that with her creative mind she has founded the companies and projects below.

Stephanie founded this company in 2014 in order to provide actors with opportunities to work with and learn from established Creatives beyond their current reach.

The Ascend Actors Group is an actors company that aims to holistically support professional and aspiring actors through workshops with the leading Casting Directors, Screen Directors and Theatre Directors. The Creatives we have worked with include Lewis Arnold (Director; Humans, Broadchurch, Cleaning Up), Steve Finn (Director; Eastenders), Jermain Julien (Director; Holby City, Casualty, Death in Paradise), Jo McInnes (Director; Royal Court, Soho Theatre, National Theatre), Zoe Ford (Lehman Triliogy, Royal National Theatre), Louis Hammond CDG (Casting Director; Royal Court, Young Vic) and Christiana Ebohon-Green (Director; Call The Midwife, Father Brown).
